Tour Booking App for an Australian Experience Brand
Driftwood Trails Tours
Driftwood Trails Tours needed a booking-and-itinerary app guests keep using after the trip starts — not a brochure download.

Client: Driftwood Trails Tours · Location: Perth, Australia · Industry: Travel
The problem
Guests booked on the website then relied on PDFs and WhatsApp for day-of details. No-shows and meeting-point confusion hurt guide schedules. A previous app attempt was abandoned after a thin MVP nobody opened.
- Day-of logistics scattered across channels
- No offline access for remote itinerary legs
- Waivers and payments slowed on-site check-in
- No retention analytics to guide product decisions
The solution
We launched iOS/Android apps centered on booking, live itineraries, offline maps, and push reminders — wired to payments and waivers so check-in got faster, not slower.
Our work
Guides participated in field tests. Flexus handled product, design, and mobile engineering through store release.
Field research & UX
Rode sample tours, mapped failure points, and prototyped itinerary + meeting-point flows.
App build (iOS/Android)
Booking, itineraries, offline packs, push, and auth. Integrated payments and digital waivers.
Ops tooling & analytics
Guide console basics and retention cohort dashboards.
Store launch & iteration
App Store / Play release, crash watch, and two post-launch UX patches from guide feedback.
Team time invested
Mobile-heavy staffing with product and field QA baked in.
| Role | Focus | Hours |
|---|---|---|
| Product manager | Scope, field tests | 140 |
| UX / UI designer | App flows, design system | 180 |
| Mobile engineers | iOS/Android features | 640 |
| Backend engineer | APIs, waivers, payments | 220 |
| QA | Device matrix, offline cases | 100 |
| Analytics | Retention instrumentation | 40 |
Total Flexus effort: ~1,320 hours across 6 months.
Results
30-day retention improved 38% after launch. Guides started days with fewer “where do we meet?” messages.
- +38% 30-day retention
- Fewer day-of WhatsApp threads (guide survey)
- Faster on-site check-in with digital waivers
- Retention cohorts guiding backlog priority
“Guests open the app because it helps them that day — not because we begged for downloads.”
